WALTER "SCOTTY" E. SCOTT

Walter "Scotty" Scott, age 68, of Sylvania, husband of Maureen Rita Patz Scott, passed away on Thursday morning, March 9, 2023, at St. Joseph's Hospital – Savannah.

Scotty was born in Sylvania, GA, to the late Donaldson Gray Scott, Sr. and the late Kathryn Ruth Morris on October 25, 1954. He retired from the United States Air Force and as a civics/history educator, and continued to serve his community through his memberships and public service in the VFW, American Legion, Son's of Confederate Veterans, Masonic Lodge, Civil Air Patrol, as well as participating in Wreaths Across America, ensuring our veterans are honorably remembered. Scotty was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church in Sylvania, GA, and skilled in genealogy research, and helped many community members trace their family lineages.

In addition to his parents, Scotty was preceded in death by his brother, Jerald "Jerry" Dewey Scott.

Those who will cherish his memory include his loving wife, Maureen Scott; daughter, Jennifer Leigh Ridgeway; sons, Jeremiah Paul "J.P." Scott, Jason Andrew Scott, Joshua Logan Scott and his wife, Janaina; sisters, Glenda Scott Corrigan, Laura Scott Boozer, Donna Scott Lloyd, Deborah Scott Watson; brother, Donald "Don" Gray Scott, Jr.; grandchildren, Gabriel Jordan Ridgeway, Savannah Jade Scott, Jericha Shae Scott, Lauanne Abrantes Nasciemento. Janna Logan Scott, Valentina Abrantes-Scott; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Cpt Kurt Hartley will officiate the funeral service with full military honors on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Buck Creek United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the Buck Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the VFW Post 7116 and American Legion Auxiliary unit 116 of Sylvania, GA.
