John J. Matteson, age 77, of Erie, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born in Union City on June 8, 1945, son of the late Rodney and Ethel Matteson.
John was an over the road truck driver with several companies prior to his retirement. He enjoyed working on his cars, woodworking and machining. He was also an avid scuba diver and took yearly diving trips to Florida.
John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charleen Matteson; children, Trisha Gernovich (Phil), Johnny Matteson (Laura), Jeff Matteson (Chris), Tammy Winslow (Kevin), Sean Matteson (Shelly) and Jill Klemm (Jack); two brothers, Bob and Bill; four sisters, Kathleen, Judy, Alice and Betty; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James; a grandson, Matthew; sister, Marilyn; and brother, Fred.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Monday from 1 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4 pm conducted by Pastor Les Utegg. An interment will be held at Wattsburg Cemetery.
