Mr. William Gene Cantrell, 63, of Herod, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at his residence.

He was the widower of Shirley (Kingston) Cantrell.

William was born in Dale on May 6, 1944, the son of the late Hymen and Margaret (Smith) Cantrell.


He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church Eldorado. He worked as a coal msiner.

William is survived by three sons, Mark (Vicki) Cantrell of Herod, Eric Cantrell of Eldorado and Leslie (Nedra) Cantrell of Eldorado. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. William is also survived by five sisters, Alice (Don) Etienne of Eldorado, June (Bob) Workman of Harrisburg, Peggy Hankins of Eldorado, Teresa (Terry) Stevens of Galatia and Tiny (Stanley) Walters of Eldorado; two brothers, Roger (Nola) Cantrell of Galatia and Donnie (Janet) Cantrell of Galatia; and a sister-in-law, Beverly (Nolan) Simmons of Cave-In-Rock.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Hendrix; and a brother, Robert Matthew Cantrell.



Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado, with Rev. Bob Workman officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
