John J. Barndt, 79, died Friday at his home in Johnstown and funeral services were held Sunday one at the Henderson Funeral home In that city and a second In St. Paul's Reformed church In Stoystown, The Rev, George H. Bricker of St. John's Reformed church, Johnstown, of which the deceased was a member, officiated, assisted by the Stoystown pastor, the Rev. Mr. Miller, Interment in the IOOF cemetery in Stoystown. Mr. Barndt's health had been impaired for the lost year, but his condition did not become serious until September 28 when ho suffered a stroke, Born war Stoystown, Mr. Barndt was a son of Aaron and Catherine (Knupp) Barndt.. He operated a farm in Somerset county for a number of years prior to locating in Johnstown about 30 years ago, Mr. Barndt was engaged as a stationary engineer for a number of years with the Lorain Steel company. He was employed for a time by the Slatler Dry Cleaning company before his retirement about 12 years ago. John J. Barndt and Marry Etta Gardner were united in marriage September 27, 1885, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. J. S. Wagner, then pastor of Berlin Reformed church. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary September 27, 1933. Mrs. Barndt's death occurred May 20, 1937. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Barndt was an ardent sportsman and was particularly interested in hunting.
