Coleen Neff Love held a deep passion for Colorado and its mountain country for her entire life. She took delight in Spring flowers, visits from hummingbirds, Winter snows, and the sound of the creek burbling outside her home in Dumont. Often with a dog at her side, backpacking and sight-seeing were cherished memories.

Born in Pennsylvania to Cole and Lois Neff, Coleen moved frequently in her early years including two-and-a-half years in Argentina. After she and her family returned to Colorado, she graduated from South High in Denver in 1956. Coleen then earned a degree in Political Science from Stanford University in 1960. Coleen married Dan Love and the young couple moved to Boston; a few years later they moved to New York and welcomed two children into their lives before moving back to Colorado and later divorcing.

In addition to her career as an insurance broker, volunteerism remained important throughout her life: she served the Denver Junior League, on the board for Mile High Girl Scouts, and as both Girl Scout & Cub Scout troop leader. She participated in the same Junior League Gourmet cooking group from 1973 to her death. Coleen helped shape the Dumont Historical Society as a board member and supported many charitable organizations.

In her teens, Coleen discovered an enduring passion for skiing, worked as a ski instructor at Winter Park / Mary Jane in the 1980s, and joined a weekly "seniors ski bus" until age 81.

She was a voracious reader. She fished. She sailed. She loved all things antique (valuable or otherwise). She played bridge regularly, drove her Subaru Baja with pride, and her distinctly favorite color was "plum."

Coleen is survived by many friends, son Scott, daughter Julie, their respective spouses Amanda and Todd, grandsons Kai and Oscar, and sister Norma and family. Coleen's closest companions - Harvey, Pooka, Bayley, Stormy and Frosty - were all deeply loved dogs, as dear as children. We hope, in whatever form, she is with them again.
