Orpha Jane Jackson, 91, died at her home in Clay Springs Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004.

She was born in Taylor, and was raised in Taylor, Snowflake and Clay Springs. Orpha attended school in each of those towns. Following high school she assisted her sister in raising her family. On April 1, 1935 she married Don Carlos Jackson in Gallup, New Mexico. They made their home in Clay Springs. Orpha was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she served as Primary President, and was in the Relief Society and Young Women's Organizations at different times. She served missions in the Snowflake Lamenite Branch, Fort Apache and Cibecue.

Orpha is survived by her sons, Harold McKay Jackson of Clay Springs, Loren Jay Jackson of Clay Springs and Marvin Bruce Jackson of Mesa; daughters Annie Ilene Wimmer of Mesa, Reba May Chlarson of Clay Springs and Debra Edna Perkins of Clay Springs; 47 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sept. 6, 1999; two sons; two daughters; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
