Francis applied for invalid pension May 9 1889 in Kansas.

His widow, Mourning E Lee Goin, applied for his pension Oct 29 1896 in Oklahoma.

Mourning E Lee's mother and Francis Goin's mother were sisters so they were first cousins.

Mourning's brothers and Francis' brother Will enlisted in 35th Iowa Infantry. Neither of Mourning's brothers survived the war. Service of the 35th Iowa and the 21st Missouri were almost identical. They were in most cases engaged in the same expeditions & battles.

Based on enlistment, a brief summary of Francis' service included battle of Shiloh,TN, siege of Corinth,MS, battles of Iuka, Corinth, Meridian Campaign, Red River Campaign, Fort DeRussey, Occupation of Alexandria,La, battles of Pleasant Hill, Mansura, Yellow Bayou, Old River Lake, Carmargos Cross Roads, Tupelo, Oxford,Ms, Tallahatchie River, Abbeville, Nashville, Siege of Spanish Fort & Ft Blakely, Occupation of Mobile, provost duty, Mobile, Selma, Montgomery until muster out.

Died of cancer on the face, Francis M. Goin, was born in Decator Co., Iowa, August 1, 1836. He was married to M.E. Lee October, 1868, in Cedar Co., Iowa. He moved to Rice Co., Kas. in 1872. Was converted in 1888, and united with the Missionary Baptist Church at Leesburg, Kansas. He came to Oklahoma in 1889, and was one of the charter members of Paradise Prairie Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon of the same in which he lived a worthy and beloved member till the time of his death which took place on September 18, 1896, making him 60 years, one months and seventeen days. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. The service was conducted by the writer who had been his pastor. The remains were then followed to the cemetery by a large procession of citizens and friends.
