Dickie was born September 11, 1936, in Morgan City, the last surviving child of Charles and Rita Breaux Stansbury. He was a 1957 graduate of Morgan City High School where he participated in multiple sports.
Dickie was a carpenter by trade. He along with his brothers and many of the Stansbury men built many of the buildings and homes in Morgan City and surrounding area. In 1984 he went to work for the City of Morgan City and eventually became the Supervisor of Public works before he retired in 2002.
He was an avid sports fan as well as player and coach in the local baseball and football leagues and could tell many stories about his former players, teammates, coaches and of course himself.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years Mary; their four children Brenda of Belle Rose, LA; Mary of Morgan City; David of Evergreen, CO; and Nancy of Stephenville, LA. Nine grandchildren as well as their spouses and children Chad and Cyrstal and their children, Chaz, Harper, Haisley, Malachi, Braden, Maddox, Gabe; Lyndsy and Reid and their children, Riley Ruth and Davis; Chase and Kimber and their children, Payton, Lucas, Noah, Ella, Evan, Caroline, Laurie, and her husband Bennett and their children, Hudson and Henry, Libby and Rose and their children, Linden Kate and Eleanor, Savannah, Sydney, Mason, Madison and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. Especially his niece Anna.
Dickie was preceded in death by twin daughters Darlene and Arlene; his parents, Charles and Rita Stansbury; five brothers, William "Bill", Merlin, Owen, Huey and Jack Stansbury; six sisters, Rita Mae "Sister" Stansbury, Ella Ruth "Doodie" Mensman, Wanzie Cousin, RoseAnn Williams, Rebecca "Becky" Aucoin, and Carolyn "Carol" Darce; Great Grandson, Zachary Tyler Pickens.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:30, with a memorial service following at 12:30 on February 20, 2023, at Twin City Funeral home of Morgan City.
