Abilene, Texas - Etta Ore Oliver, 95, a lifelong resident of Abilene, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at an Abilene medical center.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, officiated by Rev. Lee Fuller. Interment will follow in Potosi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The daughter of Mary Lou (Adams) and Columbus Eldon Clements, she was born on February 3, 1913 in Eastland, Texas, and attended school in the Iberis Community. She was the elevator operator for 20 years at the Alexander Building in Abilene. Etta was a quilter at the South Park Community Center. She loved to fish, work in her garden, and be outdoors.

Her strong Christian beliefs allowed her to help others in their time of need.

Etta was preceded in death by her husband, J. J. (Jack) Oliver, on December 21, 1975; son, Jackie C. Oliver on April 12, 1990; parents; and three sisters, Addie Mae Walker, Charlie Lee Walker and Ora Marsh.

Survivors include a brother, Eldon "Buddy" Clements and wife, Dorothy, of Abilene; a sister, Lessie Scarborough and husband, Randolph, of Abilene; grandchildren, Jimmy Dan Oliver, Randall J. Oliver and Rhonda Lea Harris; great-grandchildren, Clark Ward, Richard Ward, Daniel J. Oliver, Brianna Oliver, Priscilla Guerrero, Jimmy Oliver, Jr., Jaclyn Oliver, Joshua Harris and Britt Harris; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
