Olympic Gymnast. Marian Barone competed in the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics as a member of the United States Gymnastics Team, receiving a bronze medal in the 1948 London games. She also received the national title in the basketball throw event at the women's indoor track and field championships in 1941, 1945, 1946, and 1951 and won in the women's baseball throw from 1945 to 1947. Between 1940 and 1952, she held more than 10 National AAU championships. She also played softball and basketball, and was adept at swimming and diving. Barone later coached at Marshall University and Temple University.
