Services for Herman "Calvin" Kuester, 67, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey Funeral Home with the Revs. Mark Bittner and Tim Folds officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Kuester died Saturday, March 13, 1993, at Independence Regional Medical Center, Independence, Mo.
He was born July 21, 1925, at Lecompton, the son of Theadore Frank and Allie Mary Elizabeth Glen Kuester.
A lifelong resident of the Lawrence area, Mr. Kuester graduated from Eudora High School.
He worked at Polar Merchantile, formerly of Lawrence, and worked for 30 years for FMC Corp. before retiring from the shipping department in 1990.
Mr. Kuester enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II, Mr. Kuester was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the United Methodist Church, both of Grain Valley, Mo.
His wife, Alberta, survives of the home.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny Kuester, Commerce, Okla., and Dennis Kuester, Lawrence; a daughter, Kathy Patton, Lawrence; a brother, Glenn Kuester, Odessa, Mo.; four sisters, June Ransdell, Overland Park, Mary Holladay, Independence, Mo.; Edith Wongwai, Roswell, N.M., and Kattie Pence, Mesa, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
