Bobby Gene Cummins, 88, of Lake City, passed away Sunday morning March 15, 2020 at the McLeod Regional Center in Florence, SC. While Bobby had led a full life, his death was sudden. He was born August 16, 1931 in Frazer, KY to the late Harlie and Theola (Nicholas) Cummins into a large family of (7) sons and (4) daughters. After attending a one-room school house, he entered the US Army in 1950. Bobby served his country in the 1st Calvary Division. He received many commendations, including (2) Bronze Service Stars, while serving his country proudly as a fearless soldier in several combat situations. After the Army, Bobby worked for the Chrysler Automotive Company in Kokomo, IN for 34 years at their transmission factory, before retiring in 1987. He was also a man of deep faith, serving as a Christian Minister for 15 years in Indiana. Bobby married Shirley Anne Lenning Nead in 1964, living in Windfall, IN and Somerset, KY, before relocating to Lake City in 1997. During his retirement, Bobby did missionary work in India and Jamaica, and worked for Habitat for Humanity. He was a selfless person who loved hunting and fishing, studying the bible, and being with family and friends.
