She used her education to advocate, educate, and help restore those impacted by domestic violence. D'an's dedication to her work and the clients that she supported was unwavering. She was a lifelong learner, as well as teacher. She enjoyed each aspect of advocating, from sharing her experiences with others to keeping an open mind and accepting everyone from exactly where they came.
D'an enjoyed keeping in touch with and spending time with her nieces and nephews, it wouldn't be until later in life she would meet the great loves of her life, Benjamin and Walton Hattaway. Along with her boys, D'an leaves behind her three sisters Marialice Anders, Kay Fisher, Sue and brother-in law Cruz Maciel, her cousin/fifth sister Jackie and husband Larry Nivens, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was a fanatic about many things; including baseball, family vacations, holiday decorating for each holiday, cooking with family and friends, nothing was more important to her than time spent with her loved ones.
