On Thursday afternoon all that was mortal of John C. Hoffman was laid to rest in Bowerman’s church cemetery. John Christian Hoffman was a son of Cornelius Hoffman and his wife Mary (Hassinger) Hoffman; was born on the 19th of May, 1867, was baptized by Rev. Bressler August 8th, 1868. He became a member of the Reformed church, and remained faithful unto death. He died of a complication of diseases on October 22, 1901, aged 34 years, 5 months and 3 days. Rev. Paul J. Dundore officiated at the funeral. Among those present from a distance at the funeral were: Allen Hoffman, a brother of the deceased, of Bethlehem; C.D. Hoffman, wife and children, of Tower City; J.T. Hoffman, of Gratz; Francis Koppenheffer, his daughter Ida, and Mrs. Chas. Koppenheffer, of Lykens, and Mr. Hassinger and wife, of Lykens Valley.
