Mary Kathryn Shaugnessy age 59, of Iola, Kansas, passed away January 29, 2023 peacefully at her home with family by her side. She was born March 31, 1963 to Robert and Charlene (Folk) Shaughnessy of Iola, Kansas.

She grew up in rural Iola and attended Iola Schools. Mary loved spending time with family, friends and her animals. A favorite part of her life was watching her grandchildren grow and do the things they loved as well as rescuing all animals that crossed her path. She was a God-fearing woman, with a giving heart. Mary was a member of the Cowboy Church in Colony, Kansas. She made a great point to make sure that the love of Jesus was shared and felt by all that surrounded her. Mary was a very selfless soul and would do anything for anyone. She didn't know a stranger and always willing to lend a hand. She loved to stay active and take part in all local Bingos and spending time at A.C.A.R.F.

Mary is survived by her father Robert Shaughnessy and wife Rosa; two sons, Huntter Hufferd and wife Branlyn of Topeka, Kansas, Dakota Hufferd and wife Lauren of Iola, Kansas; her grandchildren, Casey and Hunter McCoun, Austyn Hartman, Hudson, Knox and Dax Hufferd, Corey Boyer; brothers, Bobby Shaughnessy and wife Josie of Iola, Kansas, Shayne Shaughnessy and wife Teri of Iola; sister Susan and husband Jeff Ellis of Iola.

She was preceded in death by her mother Charlene Shaughnessy and son Eli Hufferd.
