Jim Hickman, 70, of San Antonio and Canyon Lake, TX (formerly of Clinton, MO), died December 29, 1998. Services were held Friday, January 1, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home, Sattler, TX. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the National Kidney Foundation of Texas.
Mr. Hickman had a long and successful career as chief of assisted housing for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in San Antonio. He served with McArthur's Army during WWII as well as in the Korean Conflict. His passions were his family, fishing and travel.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Carol Hickman; five sons, James L. Hickman Jr., Floyd "Pete" Hickman, Robert "Bobby" Winningham, Chris Winningham, and Craig Winningham; daughter, Carolyn Watson; 12 grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hickman was married to Martha Jane Sperry (b. 14 Mar 1928 in Missouri) on July 22, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas. (Her father is Judge Floyd Logan Sperry.) They were divorced in early May, 1965. He then married Carol Joy Brown Winningham (b. 21 Jan 1935 in Lowry City, Missouri) on May 29th of that year at the Terrace Lake United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
