He was born in Emanuel County, living most of his life in Lyons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked most of his life as a mechanic, retiring from Palmer Tire Company in Vidalia, served as a volunteer fireman and civil defense in Lyons since 1954, and served as bailiff of the courts in Toombs County for numerous years.
He was preceded in death by his parent,s Leonard Edenfield and Fronie Strange Edenfield, eight brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Edenfield is survived by his wife, Juanita Edenfield, of fifty-seven years; two sons, Leonard Edenfield of Lyons, and Gary Edenfield of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Cori Craft (Kris) of Savannah, Cara Smith (Patrick) of Kingsland, Morgan Edenfield of Tuscaloosa, and Nick Edenfield (Gracie) of Hinesville; four great-grandchildren, Korben and James Craft, and Saylor and Andrew Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. The graveside funeral service will be Saturday, January 28th, at 11:00 at Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey Barnard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
