Fay Susan, daughter of William C. and Rebecca M. Babbitt was born near Sewal, Iowa, on July 1, 1891. When she was about twenty months of age the family moved to Cambridge and first lived on a farm that is now a portion of the Medicine Creek Reservoir. Soon afterward the family bought a farm one mile north of Cambridge where the family resided for a number of years.
Fay gained her elementary and high school education in the Cambridge Public Schools from which she graduated in 1907. Her college work was taken at Colorado State Teachers College at Greeley and Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney.
In September, 1914, Fay became the second grade teacher in the Oxford Schools. She held this position until her marriage to Miles E. Cadwallader on Nov. 29, 1917. Except for four years at Republican City her entire married life has been spent in this community.
Born to her were Miles E., Jr., of Oxford; Madge Maxine Moran of Los Angeles, Calif; Joy Ruth Fertitta of Laurel, Miss.; Lois Ann Wells of Gordon, Nebraska; and Joseph Dale of Oxford.
In early childhood Fay accepted Christ as her personal Savior and affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Cambridge. During her entire adult life she has kept an active membership in some church to which she has always been a faithful and regular attendant and loyal supporter. She has always felt at home in any Christian group.
Among the civic or improvement groups of the community to which she belonged were the Parent-Teachers Association, The Oxford Woman's Club, The Extension Club, The Woman's Society of Christian Service, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
