Pluma was a daughter of William Calvin and Rebecca Rockwell Babbitt.
Obituary
Pluma Emmeline Babbitt, daughter of Calvin and Rebecca Babbitt, was born at Sewell, Iowa, on November 3rd, 1875 and passed away June 28th, 1962, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years, after a lingering illness.
Early in 1893 Pluma moved with her family to a farm north of Cambridge. She was one of fourteen children, eleven of whom preceded her in death.
On October 16, 1901 Pluma was united in marriage to Robert D. Mousel at McCook, Nebraska. The couple lived at the Mousel Ranch eight miles north of Cambridge until 1941 when they moved to town. Pluma and Robert had the unusual good fortune to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary last fall at an "open house" at their home.
Mrs. Mousel was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, was a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club, belonged to the Kensington Club. She was active in Church work, and in 1961, she had been presented a lifetime membership in the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mousel is survived by her husband, Robert; Dr. Claude of Denver; Dr. Lloyd of Seattle, Washington; Wendell of cambridge; Dorothy Corcoran, of Oberlin, Kansas; Canellen of Edison; R.D., Jr. of Cambridge; Agnes anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Beulah Trumble of Cambridge; 23 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Babbitt of Booneville, Mo., and Orren Babbitt of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one sister, Bertha Trenchard of Cambridge; and many, many friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted from the Lockenour Mortuary on Sunday afternoon, July 1, at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Claude Copley officiating. Interment was at the Cambridge Cemetery.
Pluma was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be missed very much. Her friends were many, and might be numbered by her acquaintances.
