Stanley Cooper, 89, of Gratis, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999 at Sycamore Medical Center in Miamisburg. Born June 16, 1909, in Campbellstown, he was the son of Charles and Daisy (House) Cooper. He was in the grocery business years ago and retired from Rexarc, Inc. in 1974 after 23 years. He had served on the Gratis Village Council, Gratis Fire Department, and was president of the Gratis Street Market. Mr. Cooper was a member of Gratis Eden Odd Fellows Lodge #147; a member of King Hiram #88, F&AM; Scottish Rite Dayton; Antioch Shrine; Preble County Shrine Club and past president of Antioch Photo Unit.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Cooper; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Cooper of Gratis; two daughters, Phyllis Monroe and Delores Duncil, both of Eaton; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Lu Jeane Beane of Eaton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Freeda Landis; and two sons-in-law, Paul Duncil and Edward Monroe.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, with the Rev. Robert French officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home, where Odd Fellow services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
