Walter H. Aughe dies at 75; was school board president
Walter H. Aughe, a former president of the Frankfort school board died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday in Clinton County Hospital at the age of 75. He had been ill for about a month.
Mr. Aughe served on the school board for nine years during the 1930's.
He was a machine shop foreman for the Nickel Plate Railroad. When he left work on the railroad in 1961 he had put in 52 years, starting with the Clover Leaf line in 1909.
He was born in Clinton County on March 14, 1894, the son of William S. and Mary E. Amey Aughe. He married the former Fern A. Brock on October 15, 1914.
He as a member of the American Railway Supervisors Association and was a past conductor of the BARE.
He is survived by his widow, a son, Walter W. Aughe of Lima, Ohio, a daughter Arabelle E. McCarty of Dayton Beach, Florida, a sister Mabel Ghere of Jefferson; a brother Charles of Port Charlotte, Florida and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Goodwin Funeral Home, Rev. Ray Mills officiating.
Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m Saturday.
