Kenneth "Andy" Anderson, 90, was born in 7 Mile Ford, VA to parents Gilbert Sylvester Anderson and Callie Lena Forrester on February 19, 1932. He was the youngest of 6 siblings; Bain, Guinn, Lewis, Hilda and Francis.
Andy served in the USAF from 1950-1972 and retired as a Master Aircrewman. Those 22 years took him around the world with 2 tours in England, Hawaii (before it was state), Japan, North Africa, and Vietnam where he was a C-130 aircrewman 1968-1969. After retiring he pursued his hobby and love for the Labrador Retriever dog breed by breeding, showing, and judging these dogs. His dedication to the breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club as a "Breeder of Merit for 50 years.
Andy was fortunate to have loved and married twice during his life. He met his first wife Doreen Lea mother of his children, Gary and Craig, in his first tour of England. Together they began the Shenandoah Labs kennel in 1969. After Doreen passed Andy then met Marti Bookout another lover of dogs and continued their excellent dedication to the breed and legacy of the kennel. Sadly, Marti passed away just recently.
Survived by son Gary, grandson Nathan and great granddaughter Journey (and numerous kin of one of the original Andersons in Southwest Virginia).
Andy will be interred alongside his former wives at Arlington National Cemetery.
