The aged couple lived in Le Mars in retirement ever since, and both have enjoyed excellent health and happiness, with the accident two weeks ago coming as the first severe interruption in 62 years of happy wedded life. They celebrated their golden wedding 12 years ago with all of their nine children and their families gathered round them in a happy reunion.
To this union 10 children were born, one son, Bernard, passing away at the age of four years in 1888. In her later years she spent her time in brightening the comfortable home where she and her husband spent their declining days in Le Mars, while she never lost the personal touch of her sons and daughters who made in a matter of duty and found it a genuine pleasure to make frequent visits to the parental home. She had many friends in and around Remsen as well as Le Mars, who regret exceedingly to hear of her sudden passing and the family have the warm sympathy of their many acquaintances.
Funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Hildreth Memorial Evangelical church, Le Mars, and burial will be in the Remsen cemetery. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, September 28, 1933, page 1, column 3 and page 4, columns 4-5.
