Mr. Leslie Drew Wachter, 93, a
well-known resident of Frederick,
died Saturday, July 30, at Frederick
Memorial Hospital. He was
the husband of the late Margaret
Elizabeth Carmack Wachter.
Born April 18, 1895, in Lewistown, he
was a son of the late Martin Luther and
Florence Virginia Bell Wachter.
Mr. Wachter was a member of the
Bethel Lutheran Church, Mountain City
Lodge 29 Knights of Pythias, where he
was a member of the Inner Guard. He
was a member of the Pythian Sisters,
the American Legion and a past noble
grand of the International Order of the .
Odd Fellows King David Lodge 50, and
was currently serving as vice grand. He
was also a member of the Rebekah
Lodge, the Walkersville Volunteer Fire
Department, and was currently
employed with the Frederick County
Circuit Court. He was a veteran of
World War I, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by four daughters,
Katherine "Kitty" Young of Frederick,
Mrs. Virgie Miller of Lutherville, Mrs.
Judith E. Wrecsics of Lake Geneva,
Fla., Mrs. Edna I. Rhodes of Frederick;
two sons, Edward L. Wachter of
Utica, Leslie E. Wachter of Frederick;
17 g r a n d c h i l d r e n ; 15 g r e a t -
grandchildren; two sisters, Marquerite
Bell of Fort Pierce, Fla., Viola Graver
of Frederick; one brother, Wesley
Vanderbilt Wachter of Frederick; and
many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother and
sister.
