EDNA FAYLENE SNEED
December 5, 1933 July 13, 2022

Edna Faylene Sneed, age 88, of Delano, California, passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022.
Edna was born December 5, 1933, to Mary and Perry Rowland in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, being the 7th among 11 children: Ruby Taylor, Avis Sparks, Edith Martin, Hubert Rowland, Watie Rowland, Clifford Rowland, Wayne Rowland, Donald Rowland, Ruth Hurst and Howard Rowland. After being flooded out year after year due to heavy rains, in 1944 Mary and Perry decided to sell their farm equipment and horses, load up and move, ending in where would become their forever home, Delano, California.
Edna was a woman of many aprons. Throughout her life, she worked at the packing sheds, was a server, a cashier, a grocery clerk and lastly, a food service supervisor in Richgrove, California for 20+ years until she retired in the 1990's. With that career, Edna grew a passion for cooking and baking that was much appreciated by family and friends. After retirement, Edna developed an interest in gambling which grew into a love for playing slot machines. It was rare that she would walk away from a machine not a winner. She traveled many places such as Reno, Las Vegas, and Laughlin, Nevada, and New Orleans, Louisiana all for the thrill of pulling that slot handle. In her later years, you could always find her at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, California, being a diamond card holder and sitting at her favorite slot machine the diamond 10xs. Edna was very fashionable and held high standards for herself. She never left her home without looking her absolute best. From her big red hair, high-end Jewelry and fancy blouses to her coral lipstick and matching coral painted nails. You would never see her any differently.
Edna was wise beyond words. She really took from every life experience she had. And with that she was always ready and willing to offer support to anyone anyway she could. She was a great listener and provided her opinion whether solicited or not. Edna was a very strong-willed person who would even say she is always right and, in most cases, she actually was. She knew what she wanted, how she wanted it and wouldn't have it any other way. That's a stubbornness that is greatly admired and will be remembered forever.
Edna is survived by son and daughter in law Audy and Jeanna Sneed, son Ricky Sneed, son Terry Sneed, daughter and son in law Sherry and Steve Downing, 10 grandchildren; Audra Sneed, Adriene Sneed, Cody Sneed, Ila Carmichael, Ike Sneed, Amy Sneed, Rowdy Sneed, Stephanie Martinez, Stacey Luna, and Shaniee Downing, 8 great-grandchildren; Bradlee Sneed, Kaiden Sneed, Noah Luna, Bella Luna, Manuel Martinez, Emery Martinez, Dillon Luna, and Layla Martinez, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, 11:00am at North Kern Cemetery District. A gathering with family and friends following services will be held at The American Legion in Delano at 12:00pm.
