LAPORTE -- Services for William A. Fitzgerald, 74, of 317 Cable St., who died at 9 a.m. Tuesday in his home following a lengthy illness, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and until the services Thursday in Essling Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born June 2, 1911, in Chaffee, Mo. He moved to LaPorte in 1945, coming from Valparaiso. On June 19, 1935, in Valparaiso, he married Mary E. Blastick, who survives. Also surviving are are four daughters, Mary Ann Walz of New Carlisle, Margaret Fitzgerald of Hammond, Ind., and Myrna Reffett and Betty Daniel, both of LaPorte; five grandchildren; and a sister, Dora Lee Sabinski of Valparaiso. He was the retired owner of Modern Floor Co.
