Conrad Haugen, age 74 of Souris, was called to the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2022 at his home near Souris. His memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.

Conrad was born to Melvin and Palma (Berge) Haugen on October 16, 1947 in Bottineau. He attended county school and later graduated from Souris High School. He then attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.

Conrad farmed with his father for many years, then later took over as the third generation on the Haugen farmstead. Beside being a small grains and row crops farmer, he raised pheasants and chickens. Conrad loved farming and living in the country. There was always a place for his German Shepherds to roam. He usually had two dogs, but up to five. The dogs liked his attention they received and were always by his side.

Conrad was an excellent woodworker. He received many complements on the kitchen cabinets in his home. He also was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and took great pleasure in eating vegetables and raspberries from his garden.

He was a member if the Trinity Lutheran Church in Souris and held various offices in the church. Later, Conrad enjoyed listening to the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau on the radio.

He is survived by his sister, Colleen and her husband, Bruce Sanford of Richmond, TX; nieces, Kristin and her husband, Mark Gehringer of Katy, TX, Robyn and her husband, Chris Berg of Starkweather, ND; nephews, Paul Orson of Circle Pines, MN and Jay Orson and his wife, Barb of Edwards AFB, CA; 7 grand nieces and nephews, Keithen, Kohl, Seth, Anthony, Audrey, Taylor and Isabelle.
