Paulette A. (Haugen) Orson pass away on Friday Nov 12, 2021, at the age of 78, in Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND, surrounded by her three children.

Paulette was born the daughter of Melvin and Polly Haugen at Bottineau, ND, on April 8, 1943, and grew up on the family farm in Souris ND. Paulette graduated from Minot State University where she met Eugene "Gene" Orson, her future husband. They were married on April 24, 1965, in Minot ND, and settled in West Fargo, ND, in 1972, where she lived until she moved closer to family in Devils Lake in 2019, due to the progression of dementia.

Paulette was an avid homemaker and worked out of her home (an early adopter of telework)! She worked over 30 years for the United States Census Bureau, interviewing people across ND, while collecting census data. In addition, she taught piano lessons, sharing her gift of music and participated in the Fargo Moorhead Music Teachers Association. Furthermore, Paulette was a lifelong volunteer at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, serving in the altar guild, ladies circles, bible studies and as a member of the Piecemakers quilting group.

She had a love for gardening and flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and family, playing cards, creating quilts, sharing wine and coffee with friends, and traveling across the US to see our amazing nation.

Paulette is survived by her three children; son, Paul Orson of Circle Pines, MN; son Jay and Barbara (Pagel) Orson, Edwards AFB, CA; daughter Robyn and Christopher Berg of Starkweather, ND; sister Colleen (Haugen) and Bruce Sanford of Katy TX, and brother Conrad Haugen of Souris, ND. She has five grandchildren: Kohl and fiancée Audrey Francis, Keithen, Seth, Taylor and Isabelle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents Melvin and Polly, and many aunts and uncles.

Memorials are preferred to Faith Journey Piecemakers, or FMMTA.
