Edgar was the son of Edgar Nelson and Frances "Fannie" Belle (Bohler) Carleton.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Private graveside services will be held at Forest Park Cemetery on Monday, February 18. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath, Southside Chapel on Sunday, February 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Ed was born February 25, 1918 in Shreveport, LA, and passed away February 15, 2008. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed by the Shreveport Trolley Company, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986. Ed was a faithful member of Mangum Memorial Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a resident of the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home at the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife Macy Matlock Carleton. His is survived by his son, Tom Carleton and wife Margie, his granddaughters Karyn Carleton Flowers and husband Eric, Kimberly Carleton Haskins and husband Kelly, two great grandsons, Travis Carleton Flowers and Kirby Carleton Haskins all of Bossier City.

It can be said of him and of the millions of others who served in WWII that he was part of the greatest generation. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of good deeds and selfless acts, and it is for this reason that he will truly be missed, for he will never pass this way again.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bossier Parish Community College Foundation or to Mangum Memorial Methodist Church.
