Annie Lee Young was the daughter of William Lee Young and Ann Eliza Dove. She married Eugene Bolling Sturgeon on July 21, 1877. Their known children: Annie S., James Gregg, William Young, Mary Bolling, Marmaduke Ferrett, Elizabeth and Amelia Pickney Sturgeon.

Annie was a devoted member of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Raleigh, NC) from the time her family relocated from PA to Apex, NC. She made the rather arduous 15 mile trip every Sunday to attend church at CGS. Three of her children were confirmed at CGS, and Rev. I. McK. Pittenger, Rector of CGS, officiated at her funeral at the M.E. Church in Apex. The beautiful stained glass window, The Supper at Emmaus, was given in her memory by her children to the Church of the Good Shepherd.
