OBITUARY:
At home, 179 High street, Salem, at 2 a.m., in her 49th year. The deceased had been ill since Nov. 26th last, when she complained of trouble with her stomach. Her friends realized that she was rapidly failing, but had no idea the end was near.
Mrs. Smith, whose maiden name was Adams, was born in 1842 in Indiana and came West with her parents ten years later. In 1864 she was married at Salem to Dr. H. Smith, Rev. Isaac Dillon, of the M. E. church, performing the ceremony. The result of the union was two daughters, Miss Lulu and Miss Clara, who live to mourn with their father the loss of a loving mother and wife. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Dr. Meredith of this city. The funeral will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, when the remains will be conveyed to their final resting place in the Rural cemetery.
