Delbert P. Adams, 67 of 2701 Soyer St., died this morning at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born at New England a son of the late Robert and Mary Greenburg Adams. He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church. He retired in 1979 after operating an Exxon Station on Division Street, for 20 years and at Pike and Broadway for 7 years. After his retirement, he was employed part-time by Dils Brothers in Parkersburg. He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife Geneva Martin Adams; one son and daughter-in-law Paul & Betty Adams of Ironton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Mrs. Crystal Gwynn of Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Denise Rowley of Barboursville, WV; Craig and Tami Adams of Ironton, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Eldon Adams of New England and Robert Adams of Torch, Ohio; one sister, Betty Elschlager of Little Hocking, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one sister Lucille Herbershoff.

The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Kimes Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl McPherson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends may call the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday.
