Husband of Lois Lee Wilson Owen. Father of James Elmar, Adela Isabelle, Barbara Lodena, Joe, Christina, Lenora, William Lee, and Betty JoAnn.

James William Owen died Sunday, July 17, 1994, at the age of 89 years. He was born March 29, 1905, in Dora, Missouri, to James Henry and Adeline (Clark) Owen. Mr. Owen married Lois Lee Wilson, November 23, 1922, In Tahlequah. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1988. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Prudence Harris; three brothers, Hershel, Hester and Orval Owen; one daughter, Betty Rowe; three sons-in-law, Q.L. Edgar Wilson, Odell McLendon and Iva Merrell; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Owen, loved to hunt, especially deer. He enjoyed singing gospel music and attended the Assembly of God Church. He was a farmer and carpenter in his later years.

He is survived by three sons, Elmar, Joe, and William; four daughters, Adelea Dale, Lodena McLendon, Christina Wilson, Lenora Merrell Brown; four sisters, Rozella Roberts of Coquille, Oregon, Inez Lane of Livermore, California, Adeline Geurin of Wagoner and Ethel Wells of Mazie; one brother, Bennie Owen of Tulsa; 30 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 1994, in the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Carl Murphy officiating and the Rev. Scott Ballard assisting. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hersman-Nichols.
