Richard "Dick" Stoops

Boise, Idaho - Richard "Dick" Stoops, Boise, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2022, at the age of 86. Interment will take place at a later date at Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Idaho.
Dick was born at St. Luke's Hospital, Boise, May 1936, the first of two children to Carl E. and Olivia "Billie" (Phelan) Stoops. He shared a birthday with his sister, Carol who was four years younger. While growing up in Boise and attending Boise schools, he worked for his father at the meat market. Upon graduating from Boise High and Boise State College, Dick worked at First Security Bank where he went on to hold a position as Bank Manager. On September 17th, 1960, he married WillaDeane Atkins of Vale, Oregon. Dick and WillaDeane had three children; daughter, Julie Gaylor of Vancouver, WA; son, Robert Stoops of Beaverton, OR; son, Brian Stoops of Post Falls, ID. In 1970 Dick left the banking industry and took a position with Fleetwood Homes relocating his family to Vancouver, Washington where he worked as a Purchasing Manager until his retirement in 1997. After retiring, he moved back to Boise where he met Nelda Tiegs, and they were married in September 1998. Dick also served in the Idaho National Guard for 10 years.
There wasn't a sport that Dick didn't love. BSU Football and the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball were at the top of the list. His lifelong hobby were trains and model railroading which started at an early age with a train his grandfather had given him one year for Christmas. Another love of Dick's was traveling. He had visited many countries across five continents and enjoyed spending many winters in Indio, Ca. He also loved camping and traveled to many destinations with his fifth wheel and RV. For the last many years, he loved to meet with his friends regularly for coffee, a Diet Coke and on occasion a donut.
Dick is survived by his three children: Julie, Robert, and Brian. He was preceded in death by his father Carl in 1989, his mother Billie in 2000, his wife Nelda in 2012 and his sister Carol is 2013.
