Ethel Rebecca "Becky" Mullinix, 61, of Westminster died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House after a six-year battle with cancer. Born Feb. 12, 1947, at home on Mullinix Mill Road in Mount Airy, she was the daughter of Rosa Lee Mullinix of Westminster and James William Mullinix Sr., who died Sept. 20, 1965. She was a 1965 graduate of Westminster High School. She was a claims examiner for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn for 34 1/2 years before her retirement. She was active in her community and was a member of the Carroll Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer for the Carroll Hospital Center Gift Shop for eight years, volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Donation Program and volunteered for 24 1/2 years for the Meals-On-Wheels Program. She was a member of the Westminster Chapter 897 Women of the Moose and the Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed cruises, traveling, crocheting, craft shows and playing bingo with her mother. She was member of the Stone Chapel Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a sister, Patricia Petry of Westminster; a devoted friend, Richard Suehle of Perry Hall; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; devoted friends from the Social Security Administration; and stepbrother Steven Carper and family of Clariton, Pa. She was predeceased by a brother, James William Mullinix Jr., who died Sept. 29, 2004; and by a brother-in-law, who died March 18, 2005. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Ellin Dize officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157. (Carroll Co Times - 2/14/2008)
