Wylene Williams Akins, a resident of Toney, AL, passed away peacefully, February 27, 2016 at her home in Toney, AL.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Columbia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery.

Wylene was born on January 13, 1942 and was the Youngest of 5 children. Ms. Akins was born and raised in Columbia Al. She returned to Columbia with her Children in 1983 where she resided until she moved to Toney, AL with her daughter. Ms. Akins or "Granny" as she was lovingly called, raised 3 children and was Granny to many children over the years. Showing by example that family isn't always blood and that having a disability doesn't stop you from living a full and normal life.

She is preceded in death by her father Wiley S. Williams, Mother Ora Stephenson Williams, and a sister Annie Mary Williams Bair.

She is survived by a Daughter, Deborah Akins Murphy of Toney AL; a son William Lamar Akins of Dothan, AL; her "other daughter" Becky Anglin Duke and step-son Jamie Earl Whitehead of Abbeville; brothers, David Williams of Ashford, and Joe Williams of St Petersburg, FL; sister Martha Trim of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Kimberly Murphy Reynolds, Jared Lee Murphy, Monica Akins, Christopher Akins, Jayson Parsons, Kaylee Parsons, Alicia Parsons, Dylan Duke, Brianna Duke, Bailey and Brantley Worthington.
