Word was received in Detroit, Wednesday, of the death in Santa Monica, Calif., Tuesday of Mr. Mitchel, formerly associated with the sales departments of automobile companies here. He was born in Detroit 68 years ago. After graduation from Georgetown University Law School, he entered the consular service and served several years in Mexico City. He retired from business in 1930 and moved to California with Mrs. Mitchel, who as Miss Helene Butler, had been prominent as an amateur actress and swimmer. She now lives in New York City.
Other survivors are his sisters, Mrs. Donald Amour, of London, and Mrs. Edward R. Alexander, of Washington.
Services at 9 a. m. Tuesday in St. Matthew's Church, Washington. Burial private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
