Professional Boxer. He was the former IBF Junior Middleweight Champion from 1986 until 1987. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps at the age of eighteen and during this period, be began his association with boxing. Following his discharge, he fought as an amateur until turning professional in 1978. After compiling a respectable record, he earned a title fight for the IBF Junior Middleweight crown against Puerto Rican boxer Carlos Santos. On June 4, 1986 at the Meadowlands Arena, he would win the belt on a majority decision. After two defense challenges, he lost the title to Canadian boxer Matthew Hilton on June 27, 1987. One year later (1988), he lost a chance at a title against Julian Jackson (technical knockout loss) for the WBA Junior Middleweight Championship and experience his last shot at a crown against Terry Norris for the NABF Light-Middleweight Title in 1989 which ended in a unanimous decision loss. He retired from boxing in 1995 after compiling a 40 win (28 knockout), 15 loss and 1 draw record. He remained in the sport, training up-and-coming fighters in Philadelphia.
