Agnes Eckroth, 89, Bismarck, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Benedictine (St. Gabriel's) Living Community in Bismarck surrounded by loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Logan Obrigewitch as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Agnes (Hopfauf) Eckroth was born to Stanislaus and Amelia (Leingang) Hopfauf on January 21, 1933 in Fallon, ND. She married Raymond Eckroth on September 23, 1952. Together they raised their 7 children on the Hopfauf family homestead north of Fallon where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle.

Agnes was a strong member of the Catholic Church and an active volunteer in her community. She was a member of the Catholic Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters and the Corpus Christi St. Theresa's Guild. Aggie was an active St. Alexius and R.S.V.P volunteer, member of the Elks and Eagles Auxiliaries, and was a 4-H leader.

Agnes loved to quilt and was known for her artistry in fabric. She made quilts for her children and each of her grandchildren for their birth and graduation as well as quilts for friends, charity raffles and missions and was a member of the Caring Hearts Quilters. A wonderful baker, she was known for her caramel rolls, pies and making cookies with the grandchildren.

In addition to farming and ranching, Agnes and Raymond owned Ray & Aggie's Bar in Flasher for 6 years. Agnes loved playing cards, mixing drinks and telling jokes with the many regulars but hated cleaning the pizza oven. While she was only able to attend school through 8th grade, Agnes always wished she had been able to attend high school. So after selling the bar, Agnes completed her GED.

Agnes and Raymond moved to Bismarck in 1992. After Raymond's death, Agnes traveled extensively. She visited 48 of the 50 states and traveled abroad, visiting Europe, Thailand and the Caribbean. She was a fierce competitor, loving all card and board games. One of her favorite past times was playing pinnacle or Trouble with her children and grandchildren.

Agnes will be deeply missed by her daughters, Jolene (Michael) Jochim, Flasher, and Laure (David) Park, Westfield, NJ; sons, Rodney (Luwanna), Bismarck, David, Bismarck, Daniel (Belinda), Bismarck, Steve (Sheela), Bismarck and Craig (Jamie), Craig, CO; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis (George) Bohl and Clementine (Gene) Volk and brother, Florian (Georgia) Hopfauf.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her parents, Stanislaus and Amelia Hopfauf; sisters, Magdalina (Jacob) Hellman, Mary Hopfauf, Katherine (Joe) Erhardt, Eva (Adam) Bernhardt, Rose (Xavier) Bohl, Genevieve (Peter) Eckroth, Perpetua (Anton) Bullinger and Loretta Hopfauf; and brothers, Anton (Frances), Ralph (Kathryn), Leo (Josephine) and Adam.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Benedictine Foundation.
