Catherine (Cathy) Marie Appling Miller died November 18, 2022 at the age of 89. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Tulia, Texas. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Catherine was born on October 15, 1933 to Samuel Gordon and Birdie Appling at Mt. Blanco (Crosby County), Texas. She met Roy Eugene Miller at Lighthouse Electric Cooperative in Floydada, Texas. They were married at Mr. Blanco on March 20, 1956. They were married for 52 years and had 5 children. She had a deep love for children which was shown as she ran a private home kindergarten, was first director of Tulia Day Nursery and served as a teacher's assistant for Tulia Independent School District.

She served her community by being a member of Lions Club. She helped many couples, and families celebrate special days by making wedding and birthday cakes. She was also very active with Tulia United Methodist Church. She and Roy were a visible presence in the kitchen on Wednesday nights serving meals. She continued this after his death. She extended this ministry by preparing coffee and donuts Sunday mornings. She was also a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. Cathy made sure the halls had colorful bulletin boards. In recent years her ministry was sending birthday cards to church members.

She is survived by her children, Marty (Cindy) Miller, Joyce (Scott) Willis, Sana Heitschmidt, Janet Lamborn, Robert (Kelly) Miller, 10 grandchildren, Charles Miller, Cassandra (Cuyler) Root, Lynsey (Cody) Earle, Shanna (Gody) Borelli, Amber (Chase) Bowman, Haley (Isai) Galvan, Caleb (Brittney) Miller, Micah Miller, Josiah (Jessie) Miller, Jonathon Miller, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and their spouses, her husband, son in-law, and several other loved ones.
