Our Yorkie we named Miss Kitty - came to us at about 9 months of age. She was a delight for her human parents from the very beginning. She grew into her "baby ears." Baby as we often called her had the sweetest nature and loved to dress-up in sweaters, her pink princess tutu and her black Halloween dress with a sequin pumpkin on the back. She loved to greet kids at the door and to venture out with her costume with kids going from house to house on Halloween. She loved going to and from the Oregon Coast sitting on her raised bed atop her Mom's lap. She had a front window bed at home from "My Pillow" where she kept an eye on the activity on our street. She loved baby carrots to chew on and was crazy about Lorna Dune cookies. She could hear the cellophane wrap being torn from the far end of the house revealing the fact that her Dad was getting one for himself. Her Mom loved dressing her up and putting her head hair in a top-knot that looked like a small water fountain (spritzer). Miss Kitty loved meeting and greeting new people on her multiple walks per day. The neighbors all knew her name and the fact that her name came from the Miss Kitty character on the long running TV show "Gunsmoke." She made people of all ages smile. The only creatures that were not charmed by her were squirrels that ventured into her yard. They were most careful to know where the nearest tree was for retreat purposes. Even cats were comfortable with her. Miss Kitty was only 4.5 years old when she was attacked and killed by a vicious German Shepard that was off leash in Lincoln City, Oregon. The attack happened so quick that her Mom couldn't protect her. Her Mom risked severe injury by trying to pry the jaws open of the attacking dog and got puncture wounds on her hand. Her Mom is heartbroken from not being able to protect her while on a leashed walk while visiting the Oregon Coast, a place she loved, especially Boiler Bay! Miss Kitty's ashes are with her human parents and when they pass in the future her ashes will be buried with them in their grave at Riverview Cemetery in S.W. Portland. The love she so readily shared and her zest for like will live with us the remainder of our lives and beyond.
