Dorothy was born November 5, 1930 in Granville County to Johnnie Beal and Willie Lee Jones Beal.
She was a member of Stovall United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Stovall United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Johnny Yount and Reverend Greg Richardson. Burial will follow in the Stovall Town Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin "Ray" Claiborne (Janet), Randy Claiborne (Donna) and Warren Claiborne (Loretta); four grandchildren, Tracy Yancey, Robin Williams, Phillip Claiborne and Randa Flournoy; six great-grandchildren, Emily Cash, Jenny Yancey, Allen Yancey, Jocelyn Williams, William Johnson and Lovey Flournoy; two sisters, Nancy Claiborne and Louise O'Brian and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Melvin Claiborne; her second husband, Jay Holbrook and two sons, Ronald Keith Claiborne and Danny Phil Claiborne.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Oxford.
Pallbearers for the service are Phillip Claiborne, Allen Yancey, Curtis Yancey, Dylan Cash, Curtis Claiborne and Randy Claiborne.
