Rose M. Brickner-Sprague

December 11, 1933 - January 13, 2018


Rose Sprague, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, was called home to her Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Crestwood Assisted Living.


A Funeral Mass for Rose will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Lincoln Reception Center of Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Monday from 3-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.


Rose was born December 11, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Leo Thomas and Edna Alice (Fosgett) Barz. Rose attended Sacred Heart Academy and her marriage to Dale Brickner was blessed with 10 children. She later married William Sprague in November 1982, at Weidman United Methodist Church.


Some of Roses favorite pastimes included playing cards, sewing, and most of all, being with her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Weidman VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Forever remembered for her huge heart, Rose was a generous, faith-filled woman who served as a source of strength and hope for her family.


Rose is survived by her husband, William Sprague of Mt. Pleasant; 10 children, Chris (Gerald) Zeien of Mt. Pleasant, Brenda (Randall) Klein of TX, Dave (Mary) Brickner of Beal City, Greg (Vicky) Brickner of Coldwater Lake, Kay Cross of Mt. Pleasant, Rob (Brenda) Brickner of Mt. Pleasant, Geoff Brickner (Chris Yarbrough) of Sterling Heights, Mark (Krista) Brickner of Lake Isabella, Ed (Sheila) Brickner of Lansing, and Amy (Phil) Block of Beal City; 28 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Rita Moline, Mary Baumann, and Dani (Leon) McDonald all of Mt. Pleasant and Wayne (Beverly) Barz of AZ; step-children, Fred (Dawn) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant, Billy Jo (Toby) Martinez of Weidman, and Dale (Vickie) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Edna Barz; two brothers, William Barz and Richard Barz; grandson, David Brickner and son-in-law, Dave Cross.
