GREENFIELD – Dortha Mae Marsh, widow of Lowell D. Marsh, and a resident of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born on September 10, 1924, to Noah and Pearl (Beisel) Gangwer in Clinton County, Indiana.

Dortha was a 1942 graduate of Rossville High School in Rossville, Indiana. She also was a 1947 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. Dortha was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp from 1944-1947 and worked as a Registered Nurse with Hancock Memorial Hospital for 12 years. Dortha was a long-time member of the Eden United Methodist Church in Eden and was actively involved in the Brandywine Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, plus the Orphan Annie Crimson Chapeau Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Dortha loved her family and dear friends. She enjoyed travel, reading, genealogy, and playing dominoes with her family. Dortha was also a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for more than 35 years.

Mrs. Marsh is survived by her children, Ann Gieseke of Sarasota, FL; Paul (Patricia) Marsh of Naperville, IL; Kay (Kerry) Colip of Westfield, IN; Alan Marsh of Greenfield, IN; plus, six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Dortha is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; brothers, Russell, Herman and Everett Gangwer; sister, Opal Plue; and one daughter, Sue (Steve) Weller.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be held at Park Cemetery in Greenfield on a later date.
