Marvin Welborn Obituary
Funeral services for Marvin Otis Welborn, age 91 of Lamesa, Texas will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas with Pastor Keith Clower officiating. Burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, PO Box 818, Lamesa, Texas 79331. Mr. Welborn was born in Munday, Texas on January 26, 1931 to Retha and Jessie Welborn. He married the love of his life, Bernice Brandon, on December 5, 1947 and they celebrated 68 wonderful years together. Marvin never knew a stranger and always welcomed everyone with a great story. As a career, he drove trucks and moved houses for most of his adult life. His passion was to restore old cars. He was a lifelong member of Crestview Baptist Church where he served in all areas of the ministry. His passion for service led him to serve on the Baptist board as a Messenger for many years. Marvin worked hard to inspire others through his offers of lending a helping hand or a listening ear. He was loved by many, including family and friends throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Marvin Welborn passed away August 10, 2022. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; two brothers, Clarence and Amos Welborn; and two sisters, Patsy White and Opal Norton. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Raylene and Don Gleghorn of Denton, Texas, Shirley and Calvin Smith of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Sue and Jerry Bennett of Lamesa, Texas; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
