Shirley Ann Bounds, 80, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2023 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. A Celebration of Shirley's life will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park with Pastor Tim Franks, officiating. Live streaming is available at www.faithbaptistip.com or on their app. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Shirley was born on June 4, 1943 in Gettysburg, South Dakota to John and Eva "Susie" (Axtman) McCloud. Shirley worked many years with Gentry Lumber Company in Wichita Falls before going to work at the family business, Bob Bounds Paving. She later went on to work at Alred Prison, retiring in 2010. Shirley was currently a visitation monitor for a visitors' center where she has enjoyed working the past few years. She was a longtime active member of Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park. In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed helping out at shooting events, playing racket ball and softball, and being active in all her kid's activities. Her pride and joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her grandkids, always making sure they had everything they wanted.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Clyde "Norman" Leach; Bob Bounds; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Zoa McCloud, Jack and Jerry McCloud, Speed and Pat McCloud, Gary McCloud, and Wade McCloud; her niece, Lisa Haggard; and her great-nephew, Josh Wendt.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bounds; her son, Bobby Bounds and wife Stephanie; her grandchildren, Tony McClane, Danny and wife Brittany McClane, Jenna Bounds, Chloe Holland, Grady Bounds, Sadie Holland, Rayna Bounds, and Jaxton Bounds; her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Maddison McClane; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Jeanette McCloud, Dick and Sandy McCloud, Lee and Charlotte McCloud, Doris McCloud, and Cindy McCloud; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss her dearly.
For those desiring, the family suggests memorials be made in honor of Shirley to the ARC of Wichita County (thearcwctx.org/donate); or to Special Olympics (specialolympics.org).
