Funeral Mass was Saturday, March 19, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Highmore with Father Chester Murtha, celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, Highmore.

Speed O. McCloud was born on March 11, 1931 in Faulkton, SD to John and Katherine McCloud. Speed attended school in Gettysburg, SD. He worked for Moses Aesoph for several years; during this time, he met Patricia Aesoph, who later became his wife. Speed and Pat were married in the Catholic Church in Orient, SD on June 14, 1955. To this union six children were born.

Working alongside his older brother Jack McCloud and younger brother Stanley McCloud for several years, Speed's passion was farming and ranching. This led him to purchase a small farm north of Highmore, SD in 1961. Working as a team with Leo, his father in- law and Bobby his brother in- law to ensure all three farms would prosper. This grew quickly into a successful business that continues to support multiple families.

Speed was a member of the ASC county board, Illinois township board, and Knights of Columbus. Speed was known by many people far and wide, after a livestock sale he was always the one to buy the first and sometimes last round of drinks.

Grateful to have shared in his life are his wife of sixty plus years, Patricia McCloud; his children: Bonnie (the late Gary Wahlen), Bruce (Jane), Jim, Carol (Carol Ganske), Tim (Jodi), and Mark (Colette); and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four half-brothers: Stanley (Jeanette), Wade (Doris), Dick (Sandi), and Lee (Charlotte); one half sister, Shirley Bounds; and sisters-in-law: Cindy McCloud and Zoa Burton.
