John A. Hoefner died yesterday in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. He had been a resident of Wellsville for the past five months.

A resident of Buffalo for most of his life, he was born in Buffalo November 11, 1888, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Roth Hoefner. He was a retired Pierce-Arrow auto worker.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Florence) Nise and Mrs. Frederick (Cornelia) McCarty both of Wellsville and a brother, Father Charles E.F. Hoefner, S. J. of New York City.

Mr. Hoefner was a member of the Trap and Field Club of Buffalo. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Buffalo American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.

Friends may call at the Schlager Funeral Home in Buffalo. There will be a requiem mass at St. Lewis Catholic Church in Buffalo Tuesday. The Rev. Charles Hoefner will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Buffalo. Local arrangements under the direction of the Embser Funeral Home.
