Bessie Irene Getzandanner, 90, formerly of Thurmont, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville. Born July 15, 1917, in New London, she was the daughter of the late John Tyson and Nora Mercer Tregoning. She was the wife of John M. Getzandanner Jr., who died in 2004. She was a 1935 graduate of Mount Airy High School. She was formerly employed at Bio Whittaker in Walkersville as a laboratory technician for a number of years, retiring in 1982. She had been a resident of Glade Valley since October 2000. Surviving are stepdaughters Margaret Ann Godsey and husband Edward of Frederick and Sandra L. Hartz of Ohio; stepson Nelson Wayne Getzandanner and wife Carol Ann of Thurmont; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law Clyde and Anna Tregoning of York, Pa., Donald Becraft of Seattle, Wash., and Ira Becraft of Baltimore; and a sister-in-law, Louise Tregoning of Libertytown. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, with the Rev. Richard Baker, pastor of McKaig United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in McKaig Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. (Carroll Co Times - 1/29/2008)
