MRS. HATTIE B. FREEMAN

Mrs. Hattie B. Freeman of Lacona died Tuesday April 14, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Strain , in St. Charles, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 6 days.

Mrs. Freeman had been in failing health the past few years. Recently she spent three weeks in Ottumwa, with her daughter Hazel Johnson, and from there went to St. Charles to spend a few days and where she was stricken with paralysis. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done, but after nine days she passed away. The body was taken to Lacona where funeral services and burial took place Thursday afternoon.

Hattie B. Hughes, daughter of James and Medissa Hughes, was born October 8, 1860, near Centerville, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Daniel B. Freeman on Nov. 7, 1880. After a few years they moved to Warren county, and the rest of her life was spent near Lacona.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Freeman, three of whom are living. Mr. Freeman passed away May 21, 1916. Three children also preceded her in death. The eldest son, Harley, died on June 6, 1936. Pearl on Jan. 6, 1933, and one child died in infancy. The daughters living are Mrs. Hazel Johnson of Ottumwa; Mrs. Ethel Strain, of St. Charles, and Mrs. Fern Stierwalt of Lacona with whom she made her home.
